velcro does not close securely

Beware: The velcro that closes of the lid is tiny and does not securely close the lid. I would be afraid of putting anything of value inside. I sent mine back.

Very nice, exactly what I needed

Fits four 82mm filters of varying types, including a polarizer, split ND, ND, and UV. Velcro for belt loops are strong and stay connected even with some abuse. I ordered a second one for my 77mm filters. This is a good space-saving alternative to the billfold/wallet style one I was using before.

The Sony Cybershot DSC-H55 camera is a perfective choice for photography buffs looking for high performance. T20 v.s. T100

I just purchased two pink T20s and one black T100 as gifts. Before I gave them away, I did a few tests for myself.

I originally thought these two models were identical except for the different lenses and LCDs, so their photos should be similar. My test results didn’t support with my assumption, though. While T100 surprised me a little bit by producing very clear photos, T20 had problems producing consistent clear images.

Like the N1 I have, T20 seems to have the trouble of focusing the object correctly indoors. About half of the photos are more or less out of focus. On the contrary, 90 percent of the photos produced by T100 are correctly focused. In addition, although I set both models in the same way (ISO to 80, face detection to ON, SteadyShot to ON, and illuminator to AUTO) photos taken by T20 seemed nosier than that by T100. I cannot be sure if the lens, the processor, or whatever else caused that.

My suggestion: choose T100 over T20 whenever possible. I am convinced that T100 is superior to T20 in producing good photos and worth the extra money.

Good camera in general, don’t buy for the High ISO option

We have had this camera about 2 months, since nearly the debut on Amazon, late April. What intrigued me was this is a reasonably-priced ultra-compact with image stablilization (Sony Super Steadyshot). What also intrigued me was the secondary “anti-blur” and low-light solution, which is High ISO (ISO 3200). Well, kudos to Sony for the Super Steadyshot, but the High ISO setting is a huge disappointment. If you are buying this camera for primarily low-light, without flash situations, then look elsewhere. If you are buying it as a 8 megapixel ultracompact with the Steadyshot image stabilization, then it is worth the price.

In typical outdoor situations or indoors with flash, the photos are great. If like me and my kids, you have a natural tremor in your hands, the image stabilization will make you love digital cameras. The shutter lag is reasonably short too, which for me is a welcome relief from 2 prior generations of Olympus cameras in the family. In fact, shutter lag is what kept me from buying Olympus again.

Back to the high ISO (3200). There is a reason this is hard to pull off in any camera line. I’m surprised Sony went this high, as the results are quite annoying. The “grain” is atrocious, reminding me of photos taken with a VGA web-cam! Were I Sony, I would have optimized for ISO 1600 before going to market, as 1600 is still 2 to 4 times greater than most consumer-market cameras. I also wish Sony had an option between 400 ISO and 3200, but I can’t find it.

I’m a bit annoyed with the features menu as well. I don’t necessarily see a rhyme or reason why they divided the features as they did. I don’t pick this camera up every day, or every week for that matter, and I have to traverse two separate features tree to find what I’m looking for.

Just a few other thoughts, the movies look great on a standard definition TV. I don’t yet have HD, so I can’t speak about the HD mode.

Would I buy this camera again, knowing the High ISO mode is a disappointment? I think so.

Awesome Camera & Looks great too!!

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this camera! It takes great pictures no matter what the conditions! I purchased a 2gig memory for it and can take tons of great pics and video. The battery lasts a really long time and its easy to charge. The charger doesn’t have a cord so I leave it plugged in the kitchen and just put in the battery every few days. The different settings & menus are easy to get to and easy to see even without my glasses on that big screen. I cannot say enough good things about this camera. If you need a pociet sized good quality camera, buy this!

The PLRD is a GREAT PRODUCT & Highly Reccomended

I bought the PLRD-92 and I have to say, that it DOES have a built in IR Transmitter. I bought a set of wireless headphones and they work GREAT. the sound quality is excellent, even to the Radio thru the built in FM Transmitter. I contacted PYLE prior to making this purchase and they told me that the unit DOES come with built in IR Transmitter. I don’t understand why people here on Amazon reviews are saying otherwise. You do have to keep in mind that wireless headphones ONLY work when they are in-front of the unit, not behind it. it is a safety feature to keep people from using the wireless heaphones while driving. The side with the LED lights on this unit should be facing back, because it is on that side of the unit that the IR sensors are located. The signal to the headphones is automatically disconnected when the headphones go past the point where the IR sensor is located. again, ITS A SAFETY FEATURE. I am very happy with my PLRD-92 and HIGHLY reccomend it to anyone in search of an affordable Pulldown DVD player for their vehicle.

Great Versitile Player

I’ve had pretty good luck with Pyle players. This unit has worked really well for me. A great product for the price and can be installed with nothing other that power run to the player. I didn’t have any problem mounting it to the roof in my mini van (one reviewer mentioned that screws were too short. While it might be a bit easier with longer screws, depending on the design of your car’s roof, longer screws might be a problem). I tried the IR audio transmitter once and it seemed to work okay. I almost exclusively use the FM transmitter and route the sound through the car stereo. I have almost had no problems (signal strength has been fine, but a couple of times the FM transmitter mysteriously stopped working. A power off and back on of the unit fixed it both times though).

My favorite feature is the ability to read data video files off of CD, DVD, SD card, or USB memory. That means I can load up a DVD-R with 4 or 5 divX movies or pop in a memory card and be good to go. that gives my kids a lot more to watch on a lot fewer DVDs. The only downside to that is (at least with divX files) the auto resume feature doesn’t work.

The only negative that I have is that I have lost the remote and not all of the playback features are available on the player itself. There are arrow keys that let me navigate DVD menus and scroll through media files, and I can play, stop and pause, but I have now fast forward/back or skipping options.

I have been using it for over a year and overall I have been very happy and have recommended the unit to others. Especially when compared to the factory DVD option in vehicles, which is usually several thousands of dollars and a smaller screen, this unit is a steal.

Better than expected

I wasted some money on Pyle speakers that really sounded horrible so I was a little gun-shy buying Pyle again but this turned out to be a good purchase.

I’ve dealt with a few dvd players, portable and flipdown and this one does a nice job. good picture, screen size is just about right. I had a larger 11″ screen and it completely blocked the rear view mirror. No good. this one snuggles up out of the way in the van(honda). Bumps don’t seem to bother it. ir and fm transmitters work fine and so do the little speakers. swivels up/down right/left further than I need. You’ll need to install/wire it or have that done.

I’d buy it again.

Product is exactly what it says it is.

I got this spool of wire for my new surround sound system. For the quality of wire and the gauge, it’s hard to beat this price. It should also be noted that I went to Best Buy and Home Depot to check if they had any 12 gauge speaker wire and neither store had anything thicker than 16 gauge. I used this wire and capped each end with GLS Banana Clips. The system sounds great. If I ever need more wire, I’ll definitely order more of this product.

Awesome!

This wire was perfect for the subs I was wiring up. I did not measure to see how long it actually was because it did the job without me having to check. But one awesome thing about it was my wire strippers read it as 10 gauge wire! I was pretty excited considering it was only advertised as 12 gauge. I only wish the wire was easier to bend. But overall, awesome product.

I purchased my Panasonic NV-GS11 video camera from eBay and for the cost, it seemed perfect. I liked the feel of the camera, it’s simplicity of use, until I tried to transfer my movie to a PC and that’s when the disturb started!

Normally, when you connect a camera using the USB connection, your PC recognises the device and you may use it straight away. I had no end of troubles getting the PC to do this and I thought the driver was at fault.

The answer, in hindsight, is that in the menu there are 2 items for the USB Function, “web camera” and “DV Studio” – the software for acquiring still photos from the camera. Choose “web camera”, connect your camera to the PC thru the USB connection and switch on the camera using the Playback mode. Check “My Computer” and there ought to be a video camera icon with “USB Video Device” besides it. Double click onto this icon will open up a page, where if you begin your movie from the camera, you may see the results on the PC screen. Unfortunately, there’s nowhere on this page where you may save the movie itself.

I searched with Google and found the answer. Many persons had the same issue but there didn’t seem to any answers. Eventually, I found one reply on a forum way down the page which provided the solution.

Download Windows Movie Maker from the Microsoft page. This is for Windows XP:-

Open Movie Maker and you will see ” Capture from video device” This allows you to save your movie into a directory of your choice and later burn the movie onto a CD using your favourite software.

Love the Lumix lineup!

I bought this camera last year, and returned it because it did not have a Leica lens, which I wanted. However, after a family member bought a Lumix camera sans Leica lens, I was a convert. For the money, you simply cannot beat it!

What makes this camera special for the price is the 6x optical zoom (up to 24X in conjunction with the digital zoom, though that causes degradation), and the Mega-OIS, or more precisely Optical Image Stabilization. This feature adjusts the camera to compensate for imperceptible hand shakes which occur inevitably on every push of the button. I believe that in the future, all cameras will have this function as it is the single most common cause of blurred photos. I have a Panasonic LC80 with a Leica lens, but one of the reasons I went looking for another camera was the blurred photos I got, even though I was as steady as I could be. I cannot overstate the importance of this feature.

The burst mode is a very nice aspect of this camera too, one mode allowing sequential shots until the entire card is filled. There is absolutely no excuse not to “get that shot” with this camera.

Also nice is the ability to use AA batteries instead of proprietary batteries which cost $60 or more. A power supply which can be easily replenished is a necessity if you plan on being out of touch with civilization for any length of time.

If you want a “Con” to go with the “Pros” it would have to be battery life….battery life is very low and even moreso in colder weather. But this should come as no surprise as this camera does not use a viewfinder; instead it uses a 2 inch LCD screen to compose pictures. Because of this, battery life will necessarily be much lower than with a camera which uses a viewfinder for composition.

Batterly life per manual under normal conditions:
Panasonic Oxyride: 250 pictures or 125 minutes
Alkaline batteries: 155 pictures or 77 minutes
Ni-MH batteries: 400 pictures or 200 minutes

When the temperature is 32F:
Panasonic Oxyride: 45 pictures or 22 minutes
Alkaline batteries: 35 pictures or 17 minutes
Ni-MH batteries: 360 pictures or 180 minutes

One other thing I would change is the On/Off switch….it can too easily be hit sideways which would open it in the case. If this happens, it could all too easily damage the motor of the zoom lens. To obviate this potential danger, simply keep the dial mode at “play” when the camera is off, and the lens will not open.

And it should be noted that this camera does NOT have a microphone for recording in video mode; if this is what you want look at the DMC-LZ5. Because I did not plan on using this feature very often, it did not present an issue for me.

For picture taking, this is a 5 star camera. For design, there are a few possible improvements which give it 4 stars.

Overall great camera that takes beautiful photos!

My previous camera before owning this one was a Canon Elph S230, so my comparisons are with that camera in mind.

PROS:

-A great price for 5MP and 6x optical zoom

-The 6x optical zoom, up to 24x digital zoom is awesome

-No time limit on movies, as long as you have memory

-Takes beautiful photos (Macro mode work great)

-Has some neat settings like fireworks, portrait and scenery that adjust everything automatically for you

CONS:

-Bigger than the Canon Elph series, can’t really stick it in your pocket

-AA batteries (a pro for most people, I actually preferred the rechargeable Lithium battery on my Canon that already came with a recharger);

-no eye-hole (technical term?), only display to take photos (I got used to this real fast; most people only use the display anyways)

-only one movie size, and its not very big

What you need to buy along with the camera…

-AA rechargeables and recharger

-camera case

-SD memory card (size depending on how many photos you take at a time)

Very Good Cam

I bought this Camera almost one month ago after selling my old HP 307 camera. Compared to my old camera this one rocks!!! Macro mode is excellent, and it’s got 11 scenery modes which work really well.
Battery life is very good with the Oxyride batteries and rechargable batteries.
The M.O.I.S does it’s job.
It’s got 6x optical zoom when most cameras under $200 have 4x max and if you change the aspect ratio you can get a total of 7.5x optical zoom which is very good to say the least.
Would i recommend this camera: Yes, definitely

Only negative i’ve seen after having this camera for some months now is that it doesn’t record video with audio

Nobody actually wants, or needs the best of anything. It doesn’t matter, whether it’s digital cameras, automobiles, homes, or jet airplanes. What we genuinely want and expect, is value for our money. If I’m going to spend $100 for a camera, then I better get $100 worth of features and quality from that camera. If I spend $1000 on a camera, then I better get $1000 worth back as well. If you follow a few simple rules, you’ll see how easy it is to get the best camera your cash may buy.

Acclaimed science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon was famous for a couple of adages known as Sturgeons Laws. My favorite, and the one most applicable to our discussion is, “Ninety percent of everything is crap.” It’s simple, direct and viciously honest. It likewise actually helps narrow down our search. If the camera your looking at is not on at least one top ten list, then drop it from your search. If it doesn’t have at least a four star review from someone, then drop if off your list. There are so a great deal of cameras to choose from these days, there’s in truth no need to settle for anything less then the best.

The second step, and a little more effort intensive, is the trial run phase. You need to try out as a good deal of of the cameras on your now very short list (thanks to Theodore) as possible. Slightly less effigy quality then the A570IS, and more or less more expensive, but a very easy traveler. Another favored compact of mine is the Olympus Stylus 790SW. The only waterproof, shockproof, dust proof, and freeze proof camera I know.

Great underwater picture taking alternative

What a wonderful alternative to taking underwater pictures. No need to spend a couple hundred dollars on a underwater housing case or a few hundred for an camera specifically made for underwater. Also don’t settle the the cheap one time use under water cameras. These cases allow you to take beautiful clear pictures using your own digital camera. I needed a waterproof case for my Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Blue) and since I already owned a Dicapac for a another brand of camera I knew there would be no other choice for me than the DicaPac brand. This is a terrific way to protect your camera from water, sand and even snow. The optical lens sometimes interfere with the camera’s zooms lens, just make sure to hold the lens from the camera’s view. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Check out the photos I attached to the product page so you can see yourself how clear and beautiful the pictures turned out.

Happy with the choice

I bought the product for my families first-time snorkeling/kayaking/beach outing last month. It was used with a Canon SD1000. The product was durable and kept the camera dry. Clarity of the photos was good, no visible haze on the pictures from the cover (either above of below the water). There was only one concern. While the lens opening was quite large – it was still important to position the camera carefully so that the black color is not vignetting the images on one side (maybe the 1000 is smaller than some of the other cameras it can accept). After a few shots I got the hang of it. My 14 year old daughter also didn’t seem to have a problem after a few shots.

Using it on the beach eliminated the worry of sand in the mechanism.

We got a lot of shots we couldn’t otherwise have taken without purchasing a $279 waterproof Olympus. Lets face it – you’re taking a computer under the water. Some photos were VERY nice.

I was very happy with the decision and would recommend this to anyone who has occasional needs or just doesn’t want to buy a new camera.

AWESOME, It worked Great

I bought this last month for a trip to Belize and Guatamala. My first use was on a river cave tubing trip, so it only got wet off and on, but took great pictures. I was hesitant when I went snorkling at the reef off of Belize, but WOW, I was able not only to take pictures, but able to switch over to video on my camera. It’s not easy with the plastic, but it can be done. You can also see the screen on your camera when you are taking pictures. We went snorkling twice and I was in the water for a few hours, great product. My camera was safe and DRY all the time, no leakage.

Very Nice, Great Package

We haven’t really gone anywhere to use the camera, hence the 4 stars and not the 5. I have taken some nice pictures around our house here in Italy and I’m quite pleased with it’s clarity and responsiveness. The sport continuous shot is awesome! I shot my dogs playing outside with my husband and the pictures came out very clear. I was impressed by the ease of using the camera as well! Like I said before we haven’t gone anywhere to warrant the use of the tri-pod or the car charger for the batteries but the home charger fits quite snugly in the adapter for European plugs and charged the batteries nicely. The bag is fabric, and I’m not sure if it’s waterproof but the camera fits nicely in it once you velcro the padded seperater in. You can make it as snug as you want, which I did, and it’s still easy to pull it in or out of the case with other items in it. It also has two little netted pockets on the sides of the case that allows for a little extra storage. I also like the fact that the extra battery cases are red and green. That way I can put the good in the green and the bad in the red. I have had many compliments on the price and amount of stuff in the package so I think this package deal is one of the best out there!

If I had known better, I would have purchased a camera with a viewfinder. Just a little light on the screen made it impossible to see your image. It scratched easily and the clear cover just peeled right off. It is hard to adjust the zoom as the stop points are too few. It takes beautiful pictures except for these frustrating drawbacks.

Batteries shipped on time, price was great, but when installed in my phones, they over-heated. They would not hold a charge….really disappointing. Ended up going to my local Radio Shack and paying a lot more for the same type of battery…..but these worked.

Battery dead after 1 month

Had this battery for about a month when my phone stopped working. I thought for sure it was something other than the battery but no. Bought a the same battery for my other phone a month earlier from batteries.com and no issues. So much for trying to get a deal, you get what you pay for but one month and it’s dead. Really?

Poor sale

I ordered the phone batteries for my cordless home phones instead of going to Radio Shack thinking I would be saving money. I saved the money, but I received stale batteries. The phones cannot go all day without a charge like they can on the new and fresh batteries. I have to constantly keep them charged. Will probably end up going to Radio Shack after all in a few months. I will not be purchasing from this seller again.
